2003 Hummer H2 - how much should i pay.
 

Just seen a 2003 Hummer H2 in great condition. It has 14,000 original miles on it. How much should i pay for it? Thanks
I'm a newbie on here, hopefully this forum is still active. I need to make a decision asap.

ALOT, Anything in the 60k miles or less is going to be 20k +. The only 14k 2003 I've seen they are asking 32,000.

What are they asking?

Exactly!! They're asking around $29k. Should i pull the trigger on it? Also anything i need to be worried about?

There's downsides to an 03.
The 03/04s have the lowest power output.
The 03s have a few weaknesses in the frame/suspension that were fixed later on. MPGs are not good vs the 08/09s and probably just slightly less than the 05-07. Interior is not as nice as the 08/09s either.

14k miles is extremely low mileage for the first year, especially for the asking price. I owned an 03 and had absolutely no issues with it, besides a fuel pump (GMs from that period have fuel pump issues as a whole. Its not an H2 exclusive issue). The thing rode like a dream. In the very limited offroad use, it held up just fine. I never witnessed the "weaknesses" in the frame or anything else mentioned in posts on forums. It's my all time favorite hummer, at least till I get my 2009 totally fixed up. Even then, it holds a small place in my heart.

If you're ok with not having the safety features of the 08/09 models (anti roll over sensor, side curtain air bags), then it's something to consider.

You can get a 100k mile H2 08/09 for about this price. Even 03s this low mile cost more than $29k. Like I said, for the mileage, that's an excellent price. You might want to consider looking here:

If you're ok with the downsides of the 4 speed, weakest motor, lack of features (might be a good thing, less maintenance) & the condition is great, it's seriously something to consider.

I really appreciate the detailed review with all the pros and cons. You da real MVP! The reason why I am leaning towards this one is because of the low miles on it and the flawless condition.
I never driven a Hummer h2 before so i think I won't notice the low power output.

The only thing on the 03s I've noticed is the door panels are almost always screwed up. They look the same structurally on the 05s and 06s I've looked at but seem more solid with less problems...maybe just age? They all drive amazing though, I even drove a 6 inch fab tech 03 with 37s and it drove pretty nice.

I had an '03 and now have a 2006. I think the '03 is every bit as good as the 2006.

The trouble with buying one with such low mileage is as soon as you rack up some mileage you are going to take a $10k hit on the value.

I agree with calif phil. But from a collectors point of view. You would be hard pressed to find one with that low mileage and its the first production year. Seeing less and less on the road. May be worth good money down the road if you can keep the mileage down.

I dont agree with synthetic on the interior. The 08/09 is more tahoe and less hummer. But its all what you prefer.

^couldn't have said it better myself. The 08/09 interiors are far too business man look for me. I prefer the earlier, more rugged interiors. Albeit they are a little noisy but you can fix those squeaks and rattles with some time and patience.


My 06 has 78k on the odo and shows a trade in on KBB of just under $21k. It is paid off now and hangs out in the garage.


A lot of people start out with 03's and love them. Some will trade them in for a newer year at some point and some don't. If you've never driven or owned an H2 you will fall in love. I'd say go for it and don't look back lol.

29k is a fair price for such low mileage. I would just check the tires for dry rot/signs of aging and go for it! I bought mine 10 weeks ago and it is a blast!
