Default 2 x Jeep Recovery Vehicles

My wife and I each own a '07 H3 Tactical Edition. Mine is Black-on-Black and her's is Boulder Grey.

I've taken mine rock crawling / off-roading numerous times. I'm an assistant organizer for a local Jeep Group (because I love to do the tough stuff and I have the 'Jeep' attitude). My wife doesn't want to get dust in her rims :-(

I've upgraded the suspension with an add-a-leaf and a Ready Lift Leveling kit (turning wrenches myself). Looks great and handles great. I can now support 35" tires. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to re-gear before I upgrade to 35"s.

On my wifes (girl Hummer) we had the instrument cluster changed out to the International Breast Cancer Awareness Pink. It looks really good and at night it turns black so that it doesn't interfer with the drivers visibility.

In addition to the suspension upgrade, I want to purchase a programer so that I can adjust the powertrain on the fly. Just upgrading the ECM is okay, but it won't give me the flexibility I'm looking for.

Enjoy the dirt,
Will

Welcome to the forum! On your 35's, you don't have to regear. Many people run them with no issues, myself included. Personally, I only run mine when wheeling, but I know several that drive 35's on the street without issue.

Default No Adventure Pkg

08H3,

I have the I-5 (3.7L) and no adventure package. I looked at the gear ratio and it looks like 33"s are pushing the envelope for size. I'm not arguing, just trying to clarify - you have no issues with 35"s and you also have the same powertrain as I?

Thanks for the info,
Will

Anything I have read on the Hummer boards indicates that you would need to re-gear with more than a 33 tire and the 3.7L. Mine is the 5.3 and is running 4.11 along with the similar transfer case ratio as my Rubicon, but also has the stock 33 inch rubber. If you changed them out for road use, the transfer case would obviously take care of any issues but in leaving them on I would assume it would be quite the barker on the highway.

I do have the 3.7L, but I also have the Adventure package. Still, there are lots of guys out there with your same configuration running 35's. You might even start a new post titled something like "I5 with 35's: Who's running them?". You'll probably get plenty of input.

I know lots of H3 owners with the I5 3.5 and 3.7 running 35" tires. Are they a little more sluggish, yes but it isn't a problem for anyone I know of. Hasn't hurt the wheeling either.

Thanks for the feedback brothers. I think I'm going to go with a second set of rims and 35"s for the trail and keep the 33"s for the pavement. Happy wheel'n all.
