08 Hummer H3 hi & 4lo

I recently bought a 08 H3 and my question is: should i feel the 4wheel drive kick in when i engage it? and how can i tell if it is working properly?

all 4 wheels are powered at all time. you notice nothing.
keep in 4 hi, the left button. the lock modes are for off road,NOT DRY ROADS.

read the book.!

Here is a very basic explination of your 4x4 system;

4 HI 40/60 power split front to rear. More power to the rear. Easier to turn.
4 HI Lock 50/50 power split front to rear. Equal power to both front and rear. Harder to turn. Only use in snow, sand, dirt, mud, etc. NOT ON DRY PAVEMENT!
4 LO Lock 50/50 power split and a much lower (numerically higher) gear ratio. For crawling up/down/over obsticles. Harder to turn. Only use in snow, sand, dirt, mud, etc. NOT ON DRY PAVEMENT!

The owners manual does a pretty great job describing what each m4x4 mode does. If you don't have one I may I suggest you go on Ebay and purchase one. It will tell you all about your vehicle.

You can go to hummer.com and download a manual. Click on "OWNERS" then "OWNERS RESOURCES"
