Default 07 h3 needing new motor need your opinion

My 2007 hummer h3 has been losing power. It's the worst first thing in the morning, you give it gas and it just doesn't want to go until it gets warmed up. Once it is warm it will drive but just seems like it had lost a lot of power. To someone who hadn't driven it, you might not even be able to tell. So I took it to one shop and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. I took it to another place recently where they tell me the engine has water in it and I am going to need a new one...I have been driving it like this for a couple of weeks and it doesn't seem like it is in the kind of shape it would need a new motor. The guy at the shop said he was surprised I was able to drive it there. Does this sound correct to anyone? Had anyone else ever had a similar problem with h3? Ty

Yes it's been very cold here in ky...and the problem started when it got cold. The hummer is currently at that shop. I'm going to pick it up today and possibly get a second opinion. If there is milky substance on my dipstick would that indicate a new engine is needed?

So, the guy at the garage is saying my thermostat is covered in oil but my head gasket isn't busted. I asked him how it is that ive been driving it all along and it seems to drive not too bad once its warmed up. He said it should start running hot and eventually engine will blow. This was a phone conversation. The guy seems to know what hes talking about. I am going to pick it up later. Not sure if I should take it elsewhere for another opinion or not. Really not sure what to do at all or where to start looking for a motor if needed.

THAT WOULD indicate a bad head gasket, the oil leak could be the valve cover gasket, did they check the compression in all 5 cylinder's that will tell what shape the engine is in. if there is no knock,I think your best bet would be to take it to a GM dealer or a honest shop and have them diagnose it,
they should be able to tell you why it needs a new motor
1 bad compression
2 no oil pressure
ask what is wrong with it and have give you a list why it is bad

I think that is your best bet, And you dont have to let them fix it.just tell them to diagnose the problem and then decide what to do.And they should give you a print out of what is wrong with it and what it will take to fix it. Good luck and let me know what you find out
