Hey everyone, first post here. My name is Ryan and I'm 17, I live in Ontario Canada.

I'm going to be getting my first car soon and I've decided on either a Hummer H3 (2006) or a Range Rover (2003).

I'm curious as to which vehicle costs more to drive? What do you guys usually spend on a fill up for an H3?

The Range Rover is a gas guzzler, but a Hummer is a HUMMER! Lol. I love them both, although used Range Rovers (must be over 2003, RR's under 2003 are ugly!) are a bit more expensive on eBay and Trader.ca.

The H3's I'm seeing are only around $17,000! I'm guessing that this is because of the high cost of gas. Range Rovers (2003+) seem to be going for, at the cheapest, $21,000

So, anyway, my questions are a) how much do you spend (per week and per month) on gas for your H3? And, if you know, which vehicle is more fuel efficent: the 2006 H3 or the 2003 Range Rover?

well depends if its stock or not. i improved my gas mileage on my 06 h3 by adding a cold air intake system,dual cat back exchaust system by magnaflow and then haveing a pcm tune done.also depends on your driving habbits and lots of other things. i think we all are diffrent. i dont drive far a day so i can go 3 weeks or 21 days easily be4 i need a fill up and sometimes i can get a month be4 i fill up the tank which will cost currently arround $80. i personally think HUMMER is the best and would recomend to anybody. i love the look and the ride of them and love working on it cause there is so much u can do to them and so many products out there for it. i turn heads all the time and get compliments and i just feel good about my self cause u worked so hard on it. i wanted a hummer all my life and i finally was able to get my dream car 2 years ago and luv it.i will only buy hummer from that day on. its the only thing worth driving good luk in the choice and HUMMER ON

 

There were a number of enhancements from '06 to '07 H3, the most significant being 3.5L to 3.7L 5-cyl engine.

As far as "cost to drive", assume the H3 gets about 15-16 mpg in town and do the math.

 

Uh....if I were 17, I wouldn't be buying or driving either of your choices. I'd be saving $ to buy a house, go to school, start a business and most definitely move out of the rent's house.

Get a tweed jacket, Sherlock Holmes pipe, Wing Tip shoes with black socks and drive the Rover. Or not.

Lucky19942001, it would just be a stock H3, I don't think I would be adding those upgrades. But here's another question, you really only pay $80 to fill it up? My friend has a 2008 Honda Civic and it cost him $101.00 to fill up the other day! I can't believe that a Hummer could cost less than a Honda.

Doc Olds, that's not really a problem for me. I need a hummer

 

A better question would be what are the reliabilty expectations and maintenance and repair costs for each. My experiences with Range Rovers( through many friends ) is that they aren't overly reliable and are extraordinarily expensive to repair. Reports from my buddies with Range Rovers also suggest that the H3 is far more fuel efficient.

 

Are you talking about you US gal or CAN ltr? If you are trying to compare the cost keep in mind, even with the increase in gas prices here in the states we still pay less per gal than you will in Canada. Here in Las Vegas it is below $4 per gal today. My wife puts around 20 to 21 gals every time she fills up which is around $80 US. If you are paying over $1 a liter then it will cost you more to fill up.

I live in Saskatchewan. My last fill up was $104 with gas at $1.33/liter. I have an 07' H3X. There is no way I would be driving it if I was 17.

 

IMO I'd go with the H3, cheaper to keep in all catagories..I've owned a Land Rover from new and I can tell you they are an over priced POS..and VERY expensive to maintain and repair(which is often)
