I've put my code reader on several times and its never had a code when the service 4x4 light is on.

I've also heard its simply the button pack that needs to be replaced.

 

Mine seems to come on every time it rains. Makes me think that there is a loose wire or connector some where but I have not found it yet. I have scanned it several times and no error codes.

 

Mine just started doing it again. I know some people have thought it's the button pack but I've had mine apart doing the LED swap and there's nothing in there but obviously buttons. They would either work or not, I don't think they would cause the service 4x4 message.

 

I usually just pull off the road and turn the truck off and it goes away. I have no idea what is causing it

 

Yeah usually turning off and back on will reset whatever the problem is. I thought about buying a new button set just to see if that was it. That's the cheapest part instead of replacing the motor.

 

it means its time for a tuneup. Take it to the work shop..
