Off Road Event Question
How experienced would one need to be to participate in one of the off-road events?
I’ve owned an 05’ H2 for a couple months now & have to say I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would. I really like it. This forum site was a great resource to address some of the issues that needed addressing

Any level of experience. Participation is based upon driver experience, vehicle preparation (tires, rock rails, undercarriage protection, winch etc..).
Really you should not off road alone, instead use a buddy system so that you have assistance if you need it. Hence an off road event.
Make sure to let others know you are learning. Watch others to see how they navigate obstacles, ask for advice and do not attempt anything not reasonably in your comfort zone at first. Most attendees are more than willing to help you learn and improve your skills. As you learn and build confidence in your vehicle control, you will soon be capable of more and more.
Do not let others tell you to do stupid obstacles. If you show up at a Jeep dominated event, your H2 is not going to squeeze through the same things a narrow Jeep can, so take that into account. I would try to hook up with other Hummers including H2s to start with. Most important, have FUN and help others when you can!

There are lots of offroad groups and clubs around. Find one local to you and start attending meetings/events. Many have social and offroad events. Let them know that you are a novice and want to learn. Most groups have people that will take you under their wing and help you out. I am a member of H1Pyscho Squad and Black Sheep Hummer Squadron. Both will take newbies and work with them on how to prepare their vehicle, reading trails and obstacles, what spare parts to have on hand and will help with any mechanical issues on the trail. Find a local group like that and they will bring you along at your pace and keep you out of trouble. Not bashing Jeepers, and I have had my share of Jeeps, but I have rescued more Jeeps left by their group on the trail to fend for themselves than I have all other makes combined.
Calvarez, it helps to run with a group that contains at least some of the same model you have. The group will have more spare parts, tools, knowledge and experience of the vehicles capabilities and how to fix anything that may need to be repaired or replaced on the trail. They will also be better at keeping you from needing to repair or replace parts while on the trail.
