Default It wasn't a good day....

SO... we are getting slammed with rain in Bradenton, FL (12 inches yesterday and today)...but, I am not complaining because I know what those on Texas are going through. So, the following happened today:

1. Came out of the restaurant and I had a puddle of water in the passenger floor well. I am hoping this is a clogged drain for the moonroof.

2. The instrument panel smoked crack. I know that sounds terrible..but, I have no other way of describing it. It went off...it came on...it went off...it partially came on...it went off...all the beeps and buzzers went off...it was on....the odometer, all gauges, and massages were off...I got an error message...lights flickered...you see where I am going with this. So....it is now at the GMC dealer...and I am waiting to hear. BTW...no problem driving it or steering it.

Anyone else experience something like this? Ideas? Do you think it is coincidental to the puddle on the floor or all the rain?

As always, thanks.

Mike

Do you have the roof marker kit installed?
-I've had issues with water ingress, that I believe comes from the riv-nuts holding the markers, but never the electrical storm your dash has.

What accessories do you have installed?

Sounds like water got to the BCM (Body Control Module).
The BCM controls a lot of the electrical things you are having issues with.
The BCM is on the passengers side behind the right kick plate in the footwell.

X3 on a wet BCM. It will make our rigs do some crazy stuff.

When you get everything dried out. Check the front corner marker lights, they have a rubber plug in over the wiring, where it passes into the passenger / roof area. That plug is the only thing that keeps the water out, over time they shrink and leak. Wrap the plug with Teflon tape for a better seal or seal it with silicone.

The 3 center lights also have seals that leak over time. Remove the lights from the body, pull off the old foam seal replace with new foam seals (Home Depot improvised) and replace on the body.

All of these lights have just one seal to keep the water out. I was surprised that you can pull the three small lights and feel the headliner just below them!
