Default 4wd question

Hey.. weird question to settle my own uneasiness...

the amber light next to my 4hi is on all the time. i occasionally get the red light in neutral, but goes away fairly quickly on the rare occasions it happens. when selecting another 4wd mode, the amber light flashes and then turns solid next to what I am selecting.. all seems to be working fine. My question is, do you ever actually hear or feel anything happening? i feel like when i hit the button i should hear a motor or something besides a flashing light. im probably just crazy, but this bugged me. thanks

Open your door or roll down your window when you are messing with the drive functions and you will definitely hear the TC changing modes. I would only do that on dirt though just to be safe so the tires can spin depending on what mode you're in, locker, etc.
