I may go look at this tomorrow...
I'm sure I will - I'm just really on the fence on this one. Should I jump at the first one that comes along and meets my requirements? Is this a good (enough) deal that I shouldn't pass it up? Should I hold out for a better deal down the road (which may be months) or a great deal on an Alpha/offroad (which may never show up).
Tainter's post was not what I was expecting. Based on the numbers I looked at, they appear to be willing to trade me straight across average trade-in for average trade-in, but his take is I'm either getting f'd on my trade-in or overpaying for theirs..

Sceptic, I wasn't trying to be negative. I ws just trying to make sure you get the best possible deal on your new "T". If you feel good about the deal that is all that matters in the end. Oh, and that you got the "T" that you want.
No - please be negative if you think it's a bad deal. I'm not familiar with what H3ts are going for, only what the NADA numbers are. Online numbers look good, but I posted here hoping to get an idea what you guys are really paying for them.
Yup - figured that out searching through Autotrader ads. For kicks while wife and I were vegging in front of the TV I went through every single H3T advertised on autotrader in the US - mostly by search criteria, I didn't read every single ad!
Every H3T - ~120 (not very many)
Search criteria - H3T, automatic, under $34k, under 30k miles:
~40
I'm being generous here, unless I opt for a V8 there is no way I'm paying over $30k.
With only 40 or so, while vegging I scanned through the ones with pics looking for the backup camera - 11 (25 did not, 3 or 4 I couldn't tell). So almost 1/2 have the camera - good to know.
Next up - which ones have the adventure package - a firm requirement. 5. Yes, that's 5 H3Ts for sale on Autotrader in the US with both the Adventure package and a backup camera in my price/mileage range.
Leather - 2 of the 5 have black leather, 1 has tan (which I really don't like at all).
To make a short story long - going through every H3t in the US on autotrader, narrowing it down to what I'm looking for - there are exactly 2. One of them happens to be about 30 miles away and the advertised price is in the top 5 or so cheapest (with under 30k miles).
As mentioned above, I wasn't planning on buying so soon - I'm selling my rental house (supposed to close at the end of the month), I'm fixing up one of my other cars to sell when the weather turns nice, and I owe $1,500 in taxes in less than a week... Was planning on waiting until all that was done, but as nearly impossible as it appears to be to find what I want at this price I may have to go for it. Dealership and I are in e-mail negotiations... I kinda hope they can't give me a deal that's too good to pass up and it falls through.

You won't regret getting what you want when you can.And yes, I've got Off-road package, leather, and BU camera.
We have come to an agreement on the price. I will be taking it for a test drive and going over it in detail tonight, and they will be doing the same with my H3. Only spent 5 minutes or so at the dealership while driving by last weekend, so if everything checks out and they stick to the offer I will drive it home.
You know, I used to really enjoy buying cars, the actual process - wheeling and dealing, all that. Now I just want a good deal and as little hassle as possible.
Done. I now own a 2009 H3t Lux+Adv, blah blah blah. Stock, white, nothing special. The one in the ad in the original post.
I did notice a couple things driving it. First, I'm quite surprised how much nicer it seems to ride than my H3. I'm guessing a combination of longer wheelbase and cushier seats. Second, driving both back to back the H3t feels a smidge slower. By the end of the 45 minute drive home I didn't really notice any longer, maybe up and down the steeper hills I'll notice it again... PCMforless has been in the plans for a while, was going to get one for the H3, so no worries.
Time to make my shopping list - sliders, slant back canopy, etc. etc. etc... Did I mention that last night, out of the blue, the wife told me since we close on our rental tomorrow she wants to make the payments on the H3t?
