I may go look at this tomorrow...

I'm not really ready to trade in my H3, but in preparation for my wife selling our Avalanche I've been casually looking through H3t's within 250 miles of here - very very few. Then I ran across this ad. Other than being an I5 vs. V8, and being somewhere in the middle of my color choices, it is exactly what I'm after. I'm not even convinced the V8 is worth the extra $$ as I'm completely satisfied with my I5/H3 and a PCMforless/air filter/exhaust is cheap and easy to add later. The kicker is the backup camera - first H3t I've seen for sale within 250 miles that has it (or at least shows it), plus it has the required Adventure package and now on my list of nice-to-haves - leather.

2009 Hummer H3T, $29,995 - Cars.com

To be honest, I haven't been searching for H3ts all that long and I'm not in a huge hurry. Just how rare is this kind of setup on the H3t? Adventure package is a must and seems to be fairly common, leather is easy enough to find, what appears to stand out on this one is the backup camera. Perhaps the backup camera is not so uncommon on H3ts? I'd hate to pass this up and never find another with the backup camera and everything else I want - but at the same time if they are common enough I don't mind waiting for the perfect one to come along at a steal of a price.

White really looks good on a T.

As far as the BU camera, a lot of the "Ts" have it but it is not listed. Like the Adventure/OffRoad package you have to look at the pictures in order to tellif it has it or not. Check the rear pix for the little camera "nub" above the trailer hitch.

Yup - figured that out searching through Autotrader ads. For kicks while wife and I were vegging in front of the TV I went through every single H3T advertised on autotrader in the US - mostly by search criteria, I didn't read every single ad!

Every H3T - ~120 (not very many)

Search criteria - H3T, automatic, under $34k, under 30k miles:
~40  I'm being generous here, unless I opt for a V8 there is no way I'm paying over $30k.

With only 40 or so, while vegging I scanned through the ones with pics looking for the backup camera - 11 (25 did not, 3 or 4 I couldn't tell). So almost 1/2 have the camera - good to know.

Next up - which ones have the adventure package - a firm requirement. 5. Yes, that's 5 H3Ts for sale on Autotrader in the US with both the Adventure package and a backup camera in my price/mileage range.

Leather - 2 of the 5 have black leather, 1 has tan (which I really don't like at all).

To make a short story long - going through every H3t in the US on autotrader, narrowing it down to what I'm looking for - there are exactly 2. One of them happens to be about 30 miles away and the advertised price is in the top 5 or so cheapest (with under 30k miles).

As mentioned above, I wasn't planning on buying so soon - I'm selling my rental house (supposed to close at the end of the month), I'm fixing up one of my other cars to sell when the weather turns nice, and I owe $1,500 in taxes in less than a week... Was planning on waiting until all that was done, but as nearly impossible as it appears to be to find what I want at this price I may have to go for it. Dealership and I are in e-mail negotiations... I kinda hope they can't give me a deal that's too good to pass up and it falls through.

Some things are just meant to be. You'll find out shortly, I'd guess.

Just keep your eyes and ears open and you will find one. They are a pretty rare HUMMER to find. Especially equipped like you want it. It will come and it will be a happy day for you!

Perhaps I should hold out for a dark gray Alpha with those options plus slant back canopy, 2"-4" lift, sliders, bumper w/winch, and brand new 35" duratracs. :D

Now THAT would be perfect in every way. For the right deal I'd happily settle for the white one in the ad. Color isn't all that important, a PCMforless should be adequate for upgrading to 35s, and everything else can be added later. For now it's either get a great deal or wait until later. I'm happy with my H3, but I'm itching to do some mods - things like sliders, but I don't want to spend money upgrading what I have or risk dents and scratches wheeling something I plan to trade in withing a few months.

Here is where we sit.

2007 H3 Adventure, chrome package, sunroof, 59k miles + $10,550

=

2009 H3t Adventure + Lux, 29k miles, sunroof, backup camera, etc (in the link above).

Thoughts?

Don't know?? If you are getting at least $18.5K for your trade and you worked them on the price of the "T" to about $27K that would be about $8.5K out of pocket before tax, title and blah, blah, blahs.

Either they are F'ing you on the trade in or not giving on the price of the "T"??

I looked up both theirs and mine on NADA - the difference in "clean trade-in" between the two is $10,675 ($30,400 - $19,725). Comparing "average trade-in" the difference is $10,525 ($28,950 - $18,425).

From an e-mail from them: "The two places I look to value a trade in are 1.The Manheim auction report, which averages the price that they have been running across the 160 nationwide auctions for. And 2. The Nada Blue Book Trade-in value. It appears that they are fairly strong on the market, with both of the values being within $100 at $17,225 Nada and $17,350 Manheim. I would give you a little more at $17,500. "

The Average Nada number, $17,225, is what I see on NADA without any of the extra options I have.

My H3 + $10,550 sounds like a reasonable deal to me, even a good one when you consider the dealership is in the business of making profit and the current offer is roughly trade-in value for trade-in value. Two advantages I may have - they may have picked up the H3t for a great price, and it's been on cars.com/autotrader.com for at least 3 or 4 weeks - they may have been sitting on this for well over a month.

Still - I'd like other people's opinions, I really don't know what the real going rate for H3ts are. With actual NADA values posted above, does $10,550 still sound like too much?
