Default Gas Mileage

I realize we aren't talkling hybrids here....the point of this thread is to confirm some information. I am considering (very seriously) picking up a new H3T. I was going to go with the I-5, as I don't really need the V8 power (no towing). My dealer has been trying to steer me towards the V8, claiming that I would actually get better mileage with it. He claims 20-22 MPG easily, if not 24 (on the highway) with the V8. So I'm hoping to get some feedback from people who are driving them.....I want to have accurate information so I can make the best decision.
Thanks.

I don't think you will see 24mpg with any Hummer!

Based on my experience, I won't agree with the dealer. I have a 08 Alpha with V8 5.3L. The window sticker says mpg 13 (local) to 16 (HWY). I'm a very careful driver and never push the gas or brake hard. And I don't keep any heavy stuff in my trunk. In the summer, the best mpg I got is 19 on hwy and 17 on local. In winter I got like 15. I can expect some value closing to 20 in summer, while definitely not 20+. H3T might be a bit diiferent with H3 while I won't expect any mpg like 24.

I own an 06 H3 with the I5, and I live in a decent sized city, I got 14.5 city and about 19highway. I try to drive always with the rpm under or at 2000, because I feel it makes a difference if you don't have a lead foot. Also I only have the gas tank 2/3 full to try to save on mileage as well. Who knows all the little things might add up to save more in the long run, because vehicles don't run on sunshine and farts!!!

This is almost identical to my experience with the 5.3.

I'm in an 09 H3T Alpha, getting between 12.5 and 13.0 per gallon with mostly city driving.

Default h307 i5

i never topped 17.2 with i5 so if they get it with v8 it sounds good.

if you dont boot it a v8 can loaf along,,but just like with the ladies,, a light touch.

No Way will an H3 or H3T Alpha get 24mpg even on the highway going downhill in neutral with a brisk tail wind drafting a semi!
Talk to another salesman or hit another dealer!

You will love the extra power with the V8! But you have to decide for yourself.

If you are going to get larger tires or any heavy accessories I highly suggest the Alpha

08 Alpha OffRoad
12.5mpg city / 15.5mpg highway
(315s, AirDoc intake, K&N, leveled, BA winch bumper, MM9500 winch, RR skids, roof rack w/lights, etc.) I'd say around 600lbs extra weight, and add me that takes it up to 850lbs my Alpha is lugging around.

Had her weighed at the truck scale recently and she just tipped over the 3ton mark! 6103lbs with a full tank of gas.

In august of 09 I drove from FLA to ME, on open highway w/ cruise contol i got 22 w/ my 09h3t adv. I got this average over 500 miles but that was as long as I could stand driving miss daisey. now w/ my normal lead foot self doing 80+ the best I got highway was about 13. I average 15 around town but I'm lucky & don't have to use the Hummer as a daily driver
