So does that mean it's no good? I saw the instrument panel looked like it had some "4" high and low buttons with a lock symbol on them.

No, it doesn't mean it's "not good". But If you are planning on wheeling it a lot might as well get the OffRoad/Adventure package. See my previous post on the buttons to look for. I added a picture.

Well darn! But it's still a T I guess. 28K miles on it and they are asking around $30K for it.

Well, I wouldn't say it is "no good".

THe H3T (and H3) have a a kind-of "full time all wheel drive". All 4 wheels are ALWAYS powered, but there is some bias. (i.e. The front wheels and rear wheels are getting different amounts of power depending on what the truck needs.)

Pushing the "4 hi" button, puts you in a more traditional "4x4" mode, where the amount of power going to the front wheels and the rear wheels is fixed (and equal).

"4 low" is pretty much "4 hi" but with a different drive ratio. (i.e. more power, slower speed.)

What that truck DOES NOT have is the locking front and rear diffs that let you go to a solid drive train should you need to.

Decent price!

We are not trying to talk you into getting the OffRoad/Adventure package. Just giving you the information so you are not kicking yourself after you bought it saying " I should have got an Alpha or the OffRoad/Adventure package". We are providing information so you can make the most educated decision on a $30,000 - $40,000 purchase!

I have read it here and on other HUMMER forums before about people having buyers remorse!

I used to wheel alot when I had the Samurai. I had gears, lockers, tires, lift, etc. I trashed that thing, but don't see me ever doing that to my H3T. Maybe the occasional mudding to a fishing hole or dragging out a wild hog or deer. I would like to put rougher tires on it and probably level out the front. But other than that, tree limbs and mud may be all it sees.

^Based on that, I think you'd be fine without the Offroad package. These trucks are VERY capable, even in "normal" and 4 hi.

Here I am!!!

I have a base model H3T without front and rear lockers. I have no regrets with my decision on the 5 cyl. motor. You can wheel anything as long as you are careful. I have made it through spots where my friend got stuck. He has a lifted 80's style suburban with 42" TSL's. He was a little embarrassed but I was there to pull him out. :D Here are a few pic's pf the places I have been with a base model.

So as you can see, Whether you have a base or alpha, it will get you where you have to go in style. What ever choice you make, I'm sure you will be happy with it.
