Where to Buy New Engine

I’m really hoping someone can help me find a reman engine. Mine blew two weeks ago today, and I can’t find a replacement. 2007 H3 3.7L 5-cylinder Base model.

I do not want to buy a used engine from a totaled vehicle. I’ve found those with 134k and 160k miles for $2000. I am looking for a reman. The Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone sell them for $3700 plus core, but they’re back ordered 8 months! I tried Jasper—they’re 15 weeks.

Im calling the local engine transmission shops, asking friends and co-workers and am having no luck at all. Fortunately, I have a motorcycle for transportation, but I drive 115 miles a day round trip. In Florida. Interstate for 54 miles, during the rainy season.

All help is appreciated!!!

I totally agree with Hummerz' advice...REPAIR YOUR ENGINE!
Not only will you be learning important things about the 3.7 engine, you will get the work done locally which helps your economy and your engine will be completed before a reman. Do it!

I know that there are two types of 3.7 engines! You need only 2007. With two sesor on camshafts. When I changed my engine, I found out about this news)))

Here is a ebay link. It will take some web searching but you may find a remanufactured engine.

Does the current engine have sever damage? Block damage?

I’m not sure. It started making a noise while on the interstate going over a bridge. I immediately pulled over, but by the time I got to the shoulder, the oil light came on then the vehicle died. There was a big puddle of oil under the vehicle, and it would not restart. There was also some oil in the engine compartment near the firewall. I then had it towed to a friend’s house.

Update 9/23/23: I found a remanned engine for $3700 plus core charge and found a place to install it for $1800. Now I am looking for a reputable shop to rebuild my own engine. I think having my own engine rebuilt is probably my best option as I plan on keeping the vehicle for a number of years. Thoughts?

First you have to determine what happened. If you put a hole in the block, then it's all over but the cryin'.

I rebuilt my '08. It's not difficult, but it is a little whacky, with the chain-driven dual overhead cams and the rear chain. Over the years, I've done Chevys, Hemis, V-12 Jags, flat-6 and flat-8 Porsches, a Rolls Royce, MGs, and others. The half of a V-10 is definitely different.
