The Under $90 Air Intake!
#61
i did mine a few days ago. the changes i made were:
i used the 3" flange mount which mounted to the inner fender
i also used a heat gun to bend the pipe to allow room for the coil
the heat gun messed up the chrome but i was painting mine anyways.

I decided to give this a go today....
None of my local stores had the 22 degree elbow (in stock) listed in the original parts list so I changed it up a bit.
Bought the Spectre Kit #8219 - 3" Polished Aluminum Universal Kit
- no longer needed the items in bold below, from the orignal list:
Spectre Kit #8219 - $54.99
Spectre #8771 - $7.99
Spectre #9761 - $10.99
Spectre #8132 - $25.99
Self Tapping Screws - $0.59
Foam - $1.35
Total - $101.90
A tad bit more but it works good and lines up well.

I also started the mod with the flange and adapter to the air intake and was thinking, since everybody was getting adapters to go from 3 1/2" to 3" pipe what would happen with a 3 1/2" pipe. Then wandered through a muffler shop and asked if they had an old piece of 3 1/2" exhaust pipe about 6 1/2" long I could buy or have. They said sure so here is a couple pics of the finished product with free piece of pipe. Fits like it wanted to be there. Looks like injectors touching but about 1/16" clearance front and rear. Please don't pay attention to the dirty engine top as this part was hiding. I also put the clamp on the flange at the fender just as a precaution so I could sink the rubber coupling deeper into the intake.

looks very direct, nice from front. why the "big"hose compared to the original.
does that measure 3.5 on the outside?
