Tuff Stuff waterproof winch

Anyone running a tuff stuff waterproof winch? They are made in china, but they look like they pack a lot of bang for the buck!

Great for the$$$

I have been using that winch 3yrs on my 95 grand cherkoee, I works great, I never had any problems with it.

Thanks for the reply. It is the only one I have received on any of the winch questions I have posted. I guess they are the type of thing you buy once and then don't think about until it let's you down...

Most all of the cheaper winches are made in the same place, smitty, csi etc they are all the same thing.
I had a smitty on the 06, worked great but I didn't care for the remote so on the T I went with a warn and the DOI mount. Almost twice as much but a far better winch.

Thanks, how often do you use it (if you don't mind me asking)? The upgraded unit I am looking at comes with a 12 foot manual control and a wireless remote. I'm not thinking I'll be using it much, but if I need it, I want it to work. How important is it to be water proof? I am thinking the difference is one can be submerged and the other can get wet.

My solenoid is mounted separate from the winch so I do not worry about water. Since it is one of your more important pieces of gear off road it's not worth going the cheap route. Smitty makes a waterproof version as well. I looked at it before going with the m8000 instead.

Well I ordered one yesterday. I could not find a bad review in my eyes. Bang for the buck and expected usage were the main factors for the purchase. Shipping weight for the whole package, including extra items was 78 pounds. Guess the weight will be a little under 75 pounds installed. Not too bad. Thanks for the advise to all that gave it. All advise was considered before buying it.

Have you had a chance to test out the Tuff Stuff winch? The price seems almost too good to be true...

Test, yes a couple of times now. Use, no I have not had a need yet. It was an easy install on my Thor bumper and I added dual batteries to my H3. Winch is connected to the primary battery. I asked around on a couple of different forurms and there were quite a few folks using them every weekend with no issues. One or two had broken parts that were quickly replaced under warranty. No more or less then any of the other manufactures it seems. at this point, I would buy another if I needed it.
