Default Torsion Bar Adjustment Question?

Hello,
I'm getting ready to adjust my torsion bars on my 07 H3. I just bought it about 2 months ago and I don't believe they have ever been adjusted. Right now my center of wheel to bottom of fender measurements are as follows:

RF 21 3/4
LF 21 1/4
RR 24 1/2
LR 24

I have read several other posts about leveling your Hummer and I was just wondering if these measurements are in-line with others before they adjusted their torsion bars? Also, when I look at my adjustment bolt it does not stick down out of the bottom of the frame like some others I have seen on other vehicles. Is this normal and when I adjust it will this bolt work it's way down or will it just tighten up against the frame? It appears to be almost up against the frame now before I have even touched it. Just wanted to get some opinions before I attempt the adjustment this weekend. Thanks again everybody....

Make sure you are looking at the right bolt. The head of the bolt is always flush with the silver shim. H3 Torsion Bar Lift Video Walkthrough - YouTube

Your measurements are about right for stock.

Be aware you'll need to align the front after you adjust.

Be aware you'll experience increased brake dive unless you get a longer bumpstops or put some spacer material between the bumpstops and lower CAs. Without bumpstop contact, the higher you lift it, the more it'll dive.

Start at the LF (lowest side) because as you tighten that side T Bar bolt, the RF will also move up.

In other words, the LF is .5" lower than the RF. Logic would say if you adjust the LF to raise it .5" all would be level.... but in the real world, when you lift the LF the .5" you will probably see that the RF also went up a small amount (like .2"). So then you will go a bit more on the LF to actually get it level across the front. That is a good starting point to then adjust both the LF and RF further if you chose.

I just adjusted mine today. It looks 10 times better. Ordered new bump stops and extended shocks to finish it off

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input. I adjusted the torsion bars today and it looks great. I just went ahead and adjusted it to 23" even in the front and I think it looks pretty good. I am going to drive it for just a few days to let everything settle in and then re-check and adjust if needed before I take it in for the alignment next week. Thanks again everyone.

If you think it just looks, good, take it offroad again. A 2" lift is a GREAT thing. This is only the tip of the iceberg for you, soon to be followed with de-chroming, 35s and a winch/bumper. Then come stickers in the rear window from wonderful places like MOAB, Loon Lake, Colorado, KOH 20??, etc. Have fun!

So I did the torsion bar adjustment about a week ago and put the front end at 23 1/4". Before getting an alignment I have drove it a little and readjusted the front end several time to bring it back to 23 1/4". My question is how long did most people wait before they went to get their alignment after their adjustement? It seems like every time I check the height it has changed by as much as 1/2" even after just a short drive. I want to make sure the front end is setteled in at 23 1/4" before the alignment but it just seems like the front end won't settle in at my desired height. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

My alignment was spot on when I bought mine and it was already at 23 1/4, but after adding shackles in the back I wanted to get back a little closer to leveled out. I cranked another 1/4-3/8" and called it good. I haven't taken it in for an alignment yet and have been watching the tread wear, I figure that it will be time for new tires before I notice any serious wear as I already have about 40k miles on the tires. The only thing I did was that I checked toe and went from a slight toe out to slight toe in. Still drives great.

Edit: I forgot to add, when checking ride height, try to do it on level ground, in the same place in the street/drive, and by lightly braking to a stop to not upset the set of the suspension when parking. A 1/4" or less variance seems normal, but after a few days of driving/remeasuring you should have a good idea of where the suspension is sitting.

and make sure to check it with the same amount of fuel in it... preferably with a full tank of gas.
