Throttle position sensor testing
 

Hello everyone. My 06 h3 has started getting reduced power and has a throttle position sensor fault. I have replaced the throttle body and sensor as well as the gas pedal assembly and it's still doing it. How do I test the sensor on the transfer case? Where would I find a wiring diagram to make sure I'm testing all the wires correctly?

The T Case has a speed sensor, not a throttle sensor.

Check the wiring harness and connector to the Throttle Body.

It would also be helpful to your query if you would post the actual OBDII code, rather than your (or someone else) summation of what you think the code is for.

There is nothing about the speed sensor which is why I replaced the other stuff first. My plan was to test the wires to see what kind of volatge they are getting but can't seem to find that diagram anywhere. Any help is appreciated even if it's telling me not to do what I'm doing!

All 3 codes at once should be the PPS (gas pedal). But you replaced it.

Did you do the PPS & throttle body @ the same time?

No they were about a couple months apart

Hmmm, that's strange. I have heard of doing both at the same time and they will not communicate with each other because they have to "discover" one another.

Try to unplug the PPS and battery. Wait 30 minutes and retry. Do not touch the pedal until it idles smoothly for a few minutes (I would idle for 5 minutes).

If thad does not work, maybe a wire @ the PPS or TB isn't making a proper connection or the @ the PCM.

Do as Tainter suggested and disconnect the battery. Kinda like a computer restart, maybe a glitch that can be corrected by that. The old re-establish the computer handshake idea.

If that does not work, spray the connectors to the TB and PPS with electrical contact cleaner, let that dry completely, snap them back together and see if that helps. Inspect the wiring to both for any fray or compromise.

Thanks guys I'll try that. I have looked at the wires close to the connectors and they looked fine. Hopefully letting it reboot will work so I don't have to follow the wires all the way back. Is it possible the pcm could be acting up if this doesn't work and I can't find a bad wire or is that very unlikely? Would I be better off to buy a wiring harness (if this doesn't work)
