Default Starting problems with the H3?

Last night I went to start the H3. The engine cranks, good battery, good starter, fuel pump runs, but no ignition. I let it sit for 10 minutes and it started. Drove 20 miles fine. Parked for 15 minutes then it didn't start again. Waited 10 minutes then it started. The H3 is stock with no aftermarket alarm. From my experience I'm thinking it may be a ECU problem? The dealer can't find the problem because it is intermintent. Has anyone had this problem and what was the cause/fix?

Thanks
Steve

Oahu rocks....man I miss that island. Kailua is da bomb brudda!

I would double check the battery connections and check for loose wires under the hood.

If it cranks it ain't a battery or connection problem...The poroblem from your discription, soundslike a Crank position sensor.

I have a similar problem, but mine turns off while i am driving it. I think it may be because of many things I have in the battery I think it may be overloaded, because of the, off road lights, xenon lights, my sound system. only two times had happened to me.

it could be either the crank position sensor or the ecu. did you check for a loose connection where the cam sensor plugs in. there is a wiring harness there, and it could have some loose connections developed in it over the past number of years.

Mine does it every so often too, and right at the 10 minute mark. I will try replacing the battery cable connections this weekend.

If your security light is illuminated during this time, the first thing to check is the battery terminals. Any voltage anomaly can confuse the PCM into thinking that someone is trying to steal the vehicle. Second thing is the ignition switch. If there is a problem with it, the PCM thinks that somone is trying to start the vehicle with an incorrect key or a screwdriver. In both situations you will get the 10 minute no start situation. Both are known problems on the 06. There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. I have not had either situation but have learned from this and other Hummer forums. The "search" option is a very useful tool. Almost any question you have has been discussed here at some point. I hope this helps.

It only happens after the truck has been warmed up and driven and then resarted.

Is your security light on?
