Default speedo / odo cluster change

Hi,

i am new on this forum. I just bought a white H3 2006 and have been folowing the forum for a while. I live in Portugal, and there are not too many hummers around here. I guess there are two H2's.

As I live here in europe I would like to change my speedo / odo cluster from Miles to KM/h. what i have read so far on the forum is that it is not possible to switch so i have to get a new one.
Where are the current miles that are on the odometer stored? in the unit itself or somewhere else. is it just a matter of taking out the Miles cluster and plugging in the Km/h cluster?

how do i get the surrounding panels and covers off to be able to reach the screws to take the unit out?

thanks so far and looking forward to a lot of hummer fun!!

I think the mileage is stored in the BCM or body control module. So if you replace the cluster it should still display the correct mileage. I'm not 100% certain though unfortunately. As far as replacing the cluster I honestly have no idea and would just start taking things apart and making note of how to get them back together.

your life might be simpler if u spend apx $100 on a trip computer and stick it on the display. it plugs into obd2 port and gives codes too.
my brain cant think of name,,,someone will be here soon,,,
