Post 4WD Error Message

I had the same 4WD error message - a new transfer case shift motor/encoder solved the problem in my case.

Default 2006 H3, service 4wd

Took Hummer to dealership, they fixed the service 4wd light and bill had been almost $3,000 to fix. Light is back on and having a hard time turning again. Coukd this be the transfer case, or is it something else?

What did they do to fix it, do you know?

If it's hard to turn, it sounds like you're in 4 Hi Locked. Do the LEDs above those buttons work?

Back when mine was running () I would occasionally get the "Service 4WD" warning but nothing obvious would stop working.

Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what they had fixed. My boyfriend had taken care of it all.
the lights are working. I've switched from 4wd hi to low locked and hi locked, I never hear anything when I switches from one to the other but I just assumed since the lights would change with the selections that obviously it was connected.
Before it had been fixed I could barely turn and would have to accelerate quite a bit to do so. Stopped at the grocery store yesterday after the light has came on a couple times and it's starting to bind again.
just wondering if I should take it back to the same dealer or sell the damn thing.
