Angry Power loss, engine knocking and total oil loss

Hi, last Friday my H3 started losing power, then started knocking quietly, then started knocking loudly, then oil alarm came on and finally stalled.

Checked oil and it was totally empty.
Losing oil from the flower ront of the motor.
Waiting for results from the mechanic.
No engine fault light.
Any ideas?

Thanks to all in advance.

Did you get your oil changed recently? Filter not tightened properly? Old filter seal stuck to housing when new filter installed?

and no sirens and flashing lightshuh???!!!

I don't think its funny that modern cars give a gazillion warnings on mundane crap and don't shut down when they are out of water or oil!!

we struggle to kill a low tire warning,,,etc and no oil shutdown.

its idiotic.

And the main problem is that I live in Spain and there is no dealer in a radius of 600 miles.

This sounds like a major engine desaster.
Running out of oil is one of the worst things that could happen.
I suppose that your bearings are run out and maybe the pistons had touched the head.

I'm not too optimistic that there is anything left to repair.

Remote oil filter lines are a weak link, GM had problems with those over years in the past. I don't know if that is your problem, but it could be?

My old 95' GMC blew the return line TWICE. Both times I just happened to see the oil pressure gauge needle drop like a stone. First time it was on the way home less than a mile, drove it to the driveway and it made a huge mess right at home. Two years later it did it and I coasted into a Murray's Auto Parts parking lot in the winter. They shagged the part (did not have it in stock but got it from a store across town), loaned me tools, one employee even lent a hand. Nothing like laying in 2 inches of oily slush on a piece of cardboard while making a repair in the dark. Woot!
