P0449 Error, Gas Cap or Valve
 

Guys,
I have had the problem with the P0449 error for a while now and since my inspection is comming up I feel the urgency to fix it. I have looked at some forum topics and videos on replacing the Evaporate emission control system vent valve and I am trying to buy the correct part. I have already replaced the gas cap which did not elimitated the error code. So I found a few sites and and even a topic on this forum https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...control-30289/ which talks about buying the ACDelco 214-2147 part for my car. The problem is that Amazon states it does not fit my vehicle. I contacted the GM seller store and they also stated it does not fit but should buy AC Delco number 214-1680 (GM number 12597567) instead and amazon does show it as fitting my vehicle. From peoples reviews and cars they used it on it makes no sense to me, the part number mentioned on this forums in my link makes much better sense based on the fact I see people with Colorado's and Yukon's using it. Can anyone offer any help with this?

Thanks HH! Your diagram did assure me I was getting the right part. Replacing it was a whole different story :) I saw couple posts people made showing the replacement of this part but what I found lacking is the part how to actually remove the computer and the valve. In my opinion, that together with removing the hoses, is the only hard part of this job. I think everyone assumes we (newbs to the repair) would know where the part is located and how to get it off. Even though I found the part fairly easily I could not really find a good post showing this, same thing regarding disconnecting the unit. I tried using the suggestion of using hot/boiled hot water on the hose to reuse but that did not work at all, I eventually pulled so hard I ripped the hose :P. Good thing I only lost 1/2 inch so it still fit on the unit when it was all said and done. I almost felt like making a video on how to replace the valve but ended up rushing the job late evening and then finishing in the AM and never got around to it. Especially since I was pretty much figuring things out as I went, if I ever need to do this again I will definitely make something.
But in the end, the valve is replaced and the error code is gone!

Yeah, you can get the part with a new hose included for about 150 bucks or just the valve with no hose for about 20 bucks. Pretty pricey piece of hose!

I used a heat gun to warm the hose before removing it from the fitting, but there is enough slack to cut it flush with the fitting and it will still fit.
