Default P0171 Issue

1st post here. My wife just bought a used 06 H3 (76k mi). When we test drove it I noticed it stumbling at after coming to a stop. I checked this forum and figured it was due to a dirty MAF and or TB. Well she bought it and after diving it to work the next day she got a CEL. I checked it and it was P0172 (lean). I cleaned the TB (didnt remove it though) and cleaned the MAF. Reset the CEL and dove it a couple miles. The CEL came back on with the same code. The engine doesnt stumble anymore at a stop. Runs good actually at all RPMs at any load.

I only see one vacuum hose (PCV) and it looks ok. Question for you folks is do I need to remove the TB to clean it. Also, could the MAF be bad? Can really see this sensor going bad but some of you may know better than me.

I don't think you can clean it properly without removing it and I certainly wouldn't want that junk going down into the engine. What exactly did you clean and how did you clean it? If you clean the MAP sensor be sure to use MAP sensor cleaner. Things can always go bad so it is a possiblitiy. Are the boots on the intake all tight?

I took the MAF out and sprayed it with MAF specific cleaner then re-installed. As for the throttle body, I just opened the butterfly and sprayed it with throttle body cleaner then wiped it down with a rag. After I opened the butterfly plate, I couldnt see any reason to remove it.

I will go remove it now and clean it good. I took the boots off and they both look ok. No cracks or anything.

Started pulling the TB and when I disconnected the wires I found where the insulation has worn through. That cant be good. I'll fix that ant reset the CEL then check tomorrow. No reason to stay up any longer since it looks like the Lions are done.
