I wanna run in some water / mud. I don't want my feet in water, or damage the truck. So.....are our door seals leak / water tight?

No, not water tight. I've had to pull the carpets to clean them and dry them out before. When this happened, the seals looked to be in good condition, however stuck in muddy soup the water comes in. If you stay moving the pressure doesn't build up and the door seals do their job.

 

Oh yeah, the seals are water tight, just through an outboard off the back bumper and ya got yourself a boat.


Always remember, you have diff, Trans and T Case vents that let water in when you go too deep, then you can change out ALL your fluids too. Your BCM and TCCMs are not very high off the floor and that is why General Hummer says water fording depth is 20". Not to mention that the T Case actuator does NOT like long term contact with water (ie. you get stuck in deep wet goo long enough, and you will not be shifting your T Case until you replace it, gave a guy a 3 hour ride home after one of those "stucks").

IMHO just going through water and mud, so you can say, look I went through water and mud, is ................... well it ain't in the smart column.

look close at the vent holes outsid the seals. that lets water out,AND IN. once muddy water gets in the silt collects moisture forever, rotting the door bottoms.
i spray oil in mine routinely hoping to delay the inevitable rust.

The h1 is designed to take in water so it doesn't float.

 

Is there any way you can modify the seals to prevent water entering the cabin? And how can you protect the breather lines from diff / t case?

 

even if the seals worked, doors have vent holes down low so they will slowly fill up and soak speakers , then get into the cabin at some point when they are deep enuf. you could plug those vents assuring that what water gets in will stay forever rotting the doors away,,slowly,
you could duct tape the doors and crawl in a window.
with water up to doors, a lot of other parts will be flooded and may not work under water.
