Manual Transmission issue
#11
I haven't heard of any problems with 4th and reverse being "too close" to each other. You should feel a gate between the gears. I suspect that you are rushing your shifts, 3rd to 4th should be a straight back movement, no way to push the lever that far over normally without trying. It sounds like your 4th gear synchro is worn to me. It is possible though that one of the linkages is bent inside the transmission causing the throw to be imprecise.
Hi,
I've got a 2008, w/the manual transmission.
Occasionally when I either up shift from 3rd to 4th, or down shift from 5th to 4th, I tend to encounter a little grinding.
I think it has to do w/4th and Reverse being so close to each other, that I am hitting up against the reverse gear when going into 4th.
I make every effort to hold my clutch in long enough before shifting gears.
I use to own another H3 w/the same powertrain, but it's been a while, so I don't remember.
Has anyone else encountered this.
Thanks.
