Making a 1500 mile trip, what gas mileage is to be expected?
 

Well I'm about to make my first long trip in the hummer. I am going to be driving 1500 miles round trip w/ a trailer and three motorcycles loaded up. My brother, a friend and I are going to the Talladega race in two weeks. What is to be expected? Just give it to me honestly, lol! Thanks guys.

With the trailer and bikes and extra passenger all in one vehicle? Not know if you have the I5 or V8... Id guess you'd be getting around 10mpg

with the I5, if its just constant driving and not much breaking/ accelerating.... somewhere between 10-13 at best. towards the 10 side lol. remember. cruise control is your friend

panamera, I think you may be mistaken... in recent trips to Rausch Creek off road park in PA ive used the cruise control and found that I get better mileage with the good old fashioned foot on the pedal. The I5 is under powered we've all come to that conclusion, and with my setup 315s, Winch bumper with 12k winch, leveled front end, and full body and under carriage protection, its even worse, so much so that when I do use cruise control, the rpms spike on anything larger than a small hill, so instead I huddle the slow vehicle lane and keep to rpms low, I can still get close to 15pmg on the highway... just my .02

Dakagana, in your case thats very true. i fully understand what you're saying. which is why i mentioned if its gonna be constant driving with little or no accelerating/breaking, i meant hills and stuff too. in hills, your method is the way to go. definitely. but on the flat straight. cruise control keeps it level :).

I am willing to guess 10-13 with the extra weight. We got 15 (no trailer, just me and my husband with almost no luggage and going 80. We also have stock everything!) from Gainesville to Miami (287 miles). The flat land is best for cruise control but I have noticed when it is on cruise control and we get to a hill, the truck has to floor it to keep the same speed and get up the hill. I suggest the Silverado! :)

Thanks everyone for the input. Just got back yesterday and yes we took the silverado. We actually went to the Talledega race in Alabama. Camping and all that. Wish we woulda had the hummer tho, could have really got her dirty down there. There tons of 4X4 trucks running around in the mud. Ohwell saved a ton in gas i suppose. later !! thanks again

Stock 07 H3 with the 3.7

5 adults , cargo area full of luggage and had a hitch carrier with prob about 100 lbs on it.

55-60 mph , no AC , all highway I got a best of 21.8

60-65 with AC 19 I=95

65-70 with AC 17 I-95

wow mcsap way to feather that pedal... I dont have enough restraint to do that nor the stock setup lol...
