Hey guys,
Just bought some used 315/75r16s mounted on some aftermarket 16inch rims, which are 11inches wide with a backspace of 4.5. They stick out a lot and rub my fender flares at one full revolution of the steering wheel. Making it difficult to pull out of my driveway.
Could I mount these tires one some 16s that are 8 inches wide with 4.5 backspace and get the clearance I need? Or would that just make the side wall go inward more and make the tires taller?
Or does anyone have any suggestion as to how i can make this work (preferably an inexpensive solution)?
My objective is to have these tires mounted on black rims and be able to turn the vehicle, that's really it. Im easy to please.
I have not messed with the torsion bars, and i have not lifted the vehicle at all. It's basically stock other than astetics.
Oh, and if I keep turning past the point it contacts the fender flares, it pops the bottom of the fender flare out and then it hits the inside of the wheel well.

 

Try leveling the truck by adjusting the torsion bars, it will tuck the wheels in abit and also give you some clearance at the fenders. If that doesnt work (you do have very wide wheels) you could invest in a 1" body lift or get the 16x8 wheels and try them out (whatever is cheaper or suits you).

 

You want wheels with the same specs as the factory wheels. Look it up yourself, I do not have time.

Yeah, your back space is whacked.

You can adjust the T Bars to 23.5" fender lip to hub center..... then go get an alignment. That may help a tiny bit, but when you wheel it, your issue is going to haunt you.

If your measurements are right, you're running -38mm offset with your wheels. The most ive seen work was 0 offset with 35s on a levelled truck with a 1" body lift. I run +10 offset (17x8) on my 35s with 1" body lift and have abit more clearance.
So as doc said, you will still run into issues. 16x8 may work depending on the offset/backspacing you select (not all 16x8 are the same) but try to be in the +10 range. Stock wheels are 16x7.5, +38mm, 5.75 backspacing.

 

Ok. Thank you guys, big help. Nice to see some solid numbers that I can use as reference to make these tires work. Or I may just end up selling these and going back to 33s. I thought 35s would be stress-free on a hummer, guess I was wrong about that.

 

Anyone have any recommendations for 16" black rims that would work with 315/75r16 tires on the H3? I'm having trouble finding rims hat are close to stock rims

 

American outlaw have 16x8 with +10 offset.
Otherwise, get stock wheels as they are tried and tested to work!

 

Don't change the automotive engineers design.

 

35s are stress free on a hummer...drives me nuts when people post things like that. You chose the wrong wheels and are complaining that the tires do not fit and it's the brand/ vehicle's fault. If you ran stock wheels and painted them black you could look cool and not damage the vehicle with 35s. I am running 37s on stock wheels and 1" bodylift. In this aspect, GM engineers knew what they were doing with wheel selection.

 

I ran 315/75/16 tires mounted to the stock OEM wheels for years on my H3 with no problems.
I got a good buy on some black 16" Method Standard wheels, 8" wide with 4-1/2" backspace that have worked well for the last 3 years.
