Default Shifting issue

Hi:

I have a 2005 H2 with 49000 miles on it. I've had it for just over a year and it has been great. Just in the last month it started having challenges shifting out of 1st gear (assuming). From a stop the engine would run up to super high rpms and would not shift until 35-40 mph or higher. The first thing I checked was the fluid level. It wasn't even on the stick. I poured in two quarts to get it to the proper level. The H2 parks in the same spot every day and as our third vehicle is only driven a few times a week. It is absolutely bone dry under the vehicle, there is no sign of fluid leaking on the ground!?! After filling the fluid to level I have driven it a few times. It shifts slightly better, but to get it to shift "automatically" you have to let off the gas at the appropriate time and it will shift, once in higher gears it operates normally, say at highway speeds. Any ideas what is going on here? What am I into to get this fixed?

Thanks for your help.
Tim
