Keys and remote?
We only got 1 key and no remote fob with our 2006.
Are the keys special? Is it true that only a dealer can program a new fob? |
Keys do not have any chip in them.
Fobs can be programmed by a TechII either @ a dealer or some locksmiths have them too. |
Ebay for the Key Blanks and FOBS. A key shop can cut the keys and the Dealer or a shop with a Tec2 tool will have to program the FOBS to the vehicle.

About the fobs....
We had a 2003 Escalade and the fob would eat batteries to the tune of about 1 per month. Finally I went to the Caddy dealer and purchased one from them. Battery lasted years in that one and they all looked identical. |
I've used a Tech II clone to program new fobs to my 2008. Because these are rather low cost knockoff units, someone near you may have one. No TIS2Web subscription needed, it will do it stand-alone. IIRC the H3 will support 3 key fobs.

I went to autozone and got a key made for $4 and works perfect

Key fobs can be programmed by anyone with the right software and OBDII adapter.
Call your local ACO or ACE (one of mine does and one does not program fobs) or a locksmith before the stealership. |
Has anyone tried one of those flip keys from eBay that are supposed to work with the H3?
