Jacking from front crossmember= Safe???
Hey guys im looking to change out the power steering pump on the H3
Im not sure of the best way to take both front tires off the ground at once and be able to turn both wheels when bleeding / filling after the swap. The front cross member with a couple of supports on the frame would be the simplest but unsure if the CM can handle the weight. Thank you Steve |
I've personally jacked from that point and after one time went back to each frame rail and a jack stand.
I block the wheels or I don't go near my Hummer H3. That of course is my perspective. Lol your mileage may vary. |
Chock both back tires in both directions.
Lift one side up via frame, place jack stand. Lift the other side up via frame, place jack stand. Commence working on your rigs PS pump replacement and use the proper bleeding procedure. Don't lift from a single point when you are going to be inside the vehicle or even outside of the vehicle and shifting the weight of the vehicle (ex. tuning the wheel). |
There are recommended jack points Are in the manual. Blocking and jack stands are always best practice for safety for doing any action under vehicle.
Too many folks are injured or even killed every year from not using best safety first. |
