Interior electrical question

On my 2007 H3 under the dash, near the steering column I found the electrical plug pictured. It was just hanging there, near the trailer brake controller wires (that had been clipped by a previous owner) It appears to be a lamp holder of some type, but I'm not sure, any ideas?https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...d57202fadc.jpg

Thanks Banshee, would the mounting bracket also be used to mount the trailer brake unit? The trailer brake unit is missing...

Those clips snap into a slot opening under the dash just to the left of the center console. But while the light is stock, a brake controller isn't (wiring is there for owners to install a brake controller, but there is no connector for one since different brands use different connectors).
