Default H3 transfer case compatibility

Hello there, so recently my transfer case went out in my 2007 Hummer H3 base model and I cannot find a replacement for it in town to save my life and im sure as hell ain’t buying one off the internet for $1200-$1900 so I’ve been trying to do as much research as I can about maybe H3 ‘s being compatible with other makes and models that were also full time 4 wheel drive and I’ve yet to find any article saying such a thing. I didn’t find one saying it wouldn’t work either so there’s hope lol. Can anyone plz tell me if there’s a transfer case out of any other GM make or model that’s full time 4 wheel drive and the transfer case will work in a H3? I just came up on a transfer case from a buddy out of his old 2002 Cadillac Escalade which was also full time 4 wheel drive and had an 4l60e in it. Any help would be beyond grateful. I’m more then ready to get my H3 back up and running as my daily again. Thanks in advance and God bless you all!

I'm not exactly sure what t-case is in the escalade, I believe its a little different from the yukons which have AWD t-cases as opposed to the 4wd in the H3. The H3/Colorado are the only GM vehicles made in this century (that I know of) with a passenger drop differential, so your options are very limited

what is wrong with your existing transfercase? maybe it just needs a shift fork replacement.

There are NO Bolt in Transfer Cases from some other GM for the H3........... any would require extensive modifications.

Rebuild what you have or replace it with the same unit.

It’s making a pretty knarly clanking sound. It’s not a grinding sound. It’s very hard to try and explain to you the sound it makes so I’m going to go and record it when it’s doing it the most.

I’ve read that if there’s anything wrong with the inside of a transfer case then they cannot be rebuilt and unfortunately this problem I’m having with my transfer case first started out very intermittently and then obviously progressively gotten worse to the point to where I just parked it because it sounded so bad. It runs and drives no problem it just sounds like I have a percussion band underneath my truck and sometimes the snare drum likes to hit a solo and get really loud and embarrassing when your pulling up to get your kids from school lol.

as far as having to make heavy modifications to the transfer case from this Escalade how heavy are we talking? I still can’t find a T case in my city without having to buy an entire H3 that someone is selling because the motor went out. I wish I could just buy it for spare parts but I don’t have the cash or space for all that. So it’s sounding like I’m F’d until I find one out of an h3.
