Default H3 stuck to floor pans!

I was out of town and blowing off a little steam after a stressful day at work and found a very muddy freshly cleared site behind a McDonald's that I had just been to. I couldn't resist, so I went for it. At one point, I went through what looked like a large mud puddle only to watch water come over the hood on passenger side...that was scary, but fun. Believe it or not, afterwards, the engine compartment didn't show any signs of muddy water. I got out of that with no problem, put it in 4WL-Lk and was doing a U-turn to go back and hit it again and literally sank into clay/quick sand type soil that was about as deep as my knees only 3 feet from hard ground! The photos really don't due justice...this thing was buried to the floor pan! The embarrassing part was that a soccer mom Range Rover pulled me out! Moral of the story, know your mud, don't slow down when sinking...speed is your friend, carry a tow strap and a compact folding shovel! I now have a portable winch, 2 tow straps, folding Army surplus shovel...all of which (except for the portable winch) are stored inside the rear door out of sight, but there if I need them.

Yes, original stock tires. When time to replace, I will probably go with something slightly more aggressive. Maybe I'll just buy my cousin's H-1 for off-road purposes.

Yep, nothin like attacking a mud puddle behind a McDonalds with stock tires to have a bit of embarassment hit you good! [8D]

Almost as bad as this guy in the party store parking lot.

Albeit a bit embarrasing, but looks like you had a blast. Great to have a camera with you too.

... party store.. I haven't heard that term since moving back to Texas from Detroit! I thought it was like a party supply store. I actually had a few guys on Woodward at a stop light as me where the nearest party store soon after I moved up there. Told them I didn't have a clue. My good co-worker friends laughed then told me its the liquor store.

A similar lesson was learned by me my first and only winter in Detroit. I decided to take my little Mazda PU into a snow covered parking lot of an old mall. They ploughed a path through the lot but I went into the snow to "get a feel for driving in the snow". The snow was only about 6 inches but there was a bit of ice underneath. It was all good until I headed toward thecleared area to leave andcame to an abrupt stop when I hit the berm of snow made by the plough. I had to "shovel" myself out with my ice scraper! Good thing I just charged my belly with White Castles!
