H3 Alpha Update: Mileage Update

H3 Alpha Update: Mileage Update
Well, I took the plunge and traded my '07 Slate Blue H3 Adventure Pkg for a Boulder Gray H3Alpha Off Road pkg. My '07 is at the dealer to have the rock rails, brush guard and a few other things switched over to the new Alpha.
Kudos to the dealership who worked hard and gave me a great deal. I really wanted a Graphite but none were immediately available around here and I didn't want to lose the deal I made either due to second thoughts or something unexpected happening to my '07 between now and a Graphite's arrival.
Boulder Gray is nice too - ebony leather with gray piping interior.
Trying to decide on whether to keep my 315/75-16 BFG MT with 35,000 miles on them or go with the tires on it and get a new set of Maxxis Bighorns in the same size.
Also, anyone have a template and install instructions for the front marker lights?
Here are some pics -sorry, just camera phone quality. More to come once I have the marker lights, light bar and Maxxis tires on and in the dirt.
Mileage Update: Well I drove 95 city miles (stop and go on the streets of NJ) and 186 highway miles at an average of 73mph (per my Garmin 660) all with the A/C on full blast. From a full tank of gas to another fill-up, it took 17.9 gallons for an average of 15.7mpg. Now this was on the stock 285/75-16 Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts, so we'll seewhat it is once I have the Maxxis Bighorns in 315/75-16 on.

RE: H3 Alpha this afternoon
Congratulations ! !
Have you got a bad case of "accelerator ankle" yet.....?
Hard to keep your foot out of it, ain't it.......[sm=badbadbad.gif]
I just picked up a Alpha "loaner" about 30 minutes ago, a clone of yours....... minus the off road package.
Initial impressions after 10 miles of city driving:
THIS IS THE WAY THEY SHOULD HAVE COME IN THE FIRST PLACE ! ! ! !
Jezus, that V-8 sounds good when ya mash the skinny pedal.
I've got some mixed driving to do later today....Can't wait.
And Again.....CONGRATULATIONS.

RE: H3 Alpha this afternoon Update:PICTURES !
I should be able to get a good idea of real mileage in the next few days as I will be driving to Rhode Island and back. I consistently averaged 15.4 mpg on the highway with 35" BFG MT tires (had the PCM recalibrated for these by PCMforless). We'll see what it is like with these 33" Duelers before I switch over to 35s again.
BTW, if anyone is interested in a Drawtite rear hitch made for H3s with stock rear bumper (not cut for factory rear hitch), I will be putting mine in the classifieds. Will probably do the same with the stock tires when I get the 35s. Since I regularly drive back and forth to RI if a buyer for either is along the way,I can drop them off or meet somewhere.
