H3 Alpha Engine Noise - High Pitch Reciprocating from Engine Area
Just noticed the high pitched noise; probably because its cold and wet in NYC now?
The only mod Ive done to the engine is to trim the cooling fan blades with a dremel for the Air Doc to clear the blades. Heres the link to the mp3 sound file on my google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1M...ew?usp=sharing Thanks! |
have you put on a new fan belt? Could also be the alternator bearings or water pump bearings.

Did you ever find out what the noise was? I’ve got the same noise and thinking it’s internal.

Start a new thread! In the meantime, remove the serp belt and start it up(without belt), and check if noise stopped. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...4acac252bb.jpg |

I dont recall if it went away on its own or if it was the Dallas Cadillac dealership replacing my power steering pump and also the alternator. (They broke the alternator housing putting in the replacement pump) I also dont remember if it really needed to be replaced b/c they were giving me a hard time (they also tried charging me for a new battery saying I dropped it off dead...) Suffice it to say, The only other thing Ive done to her in the engine bay is to replace the belts last year; and Im betting the noise came from the belts being old in NYC/Dallas winter weather. (I live in Houston which is warmer and wetter than Dallas) I hope this helps, Cheers! |
