Default Good time to buy/lease

I was recently in a 27 month lease, due to end August 8th 2008. I was also already over my mileage by roughly 6k miles. So I took a trip down to the dealer to see what kind of deals if any they had going on. So they eventually came back with, I pay for the miles that I currently owe, about $900. Then I sign up for a new 24 month lease, and GMAC was willing to bite 4 months of the lease, and the dealer the remaining 3. Seeing how every mile i was driving until August was .15 cents, I went for it.

- 24 month lease
-2008 Black H3 Adventurepack
- Autotrans
- Power driverseat
- sunroof
- chrome package(didnt want but was already on truck)
- 18k miles per year
- 0 down
- $371/mo.

Incentives listed were 1000 Bonus cash, 1050 Cap Cost Reduction. I was gms so msrp 36260 went to 32177 then minus 2050 incentives = 30274.

I did read on the family first website that an msrp 37500 you could do a 359/mo payment, but this was 15k, so tack on another $25/month for 18k miles and you would be at about $375/mo.So I don't think I am too far off from that.

In anycase, I don't think the dealer made too much off the deal and just wanted the point for the sale. I was really surprised to be able to get out of the lease 7 months early! So if your looking to get out of a lease and into something new, you may be able to find this same deal. I would think they are itching to make those final sales before year end.

Seems that you did a pretty decent deal...

Was your payment before close to what it is now?

not bad but did you try and dicker with the amount of miles that seems low so far since last jan. i put on 40000 km

i think that is the worst thing about a lease the milage is controlled and its hard to add mods when its not your own truck.

Payment before was $355/mo. That was a 2006 Base with sunroof, nerfbars, and tow package. So I lost tow and nerf, but upgraded slightly on the rest. I only paid first month when I left the dealer. So its about $20/mo more now, for this truck. That monthly also includes rolling in the $75 doc fee, 20 day registration, and inspection. Thats about $7 a month. So the increase is about $13/mo give or take.

Nah, I was allowed to have roughly 40600 miles when I was due to turn in the truck in August of 2008. When I turned the truck in 2 days ago it had 46680 miles on it, so I was over by about 6000 miles and still had 7 months to go on the lease, so every mile between now and August 8th would have been .15 per mile. It does stink but I like being able to get a new car and turn in the old one fairly easily. Of course i got burned on mileage but that was my own fault for miscalculating. And last minute i was out there removing my sylvania silverstars, sirius, and ipod wiring i had done!
