Default few questions from the new guy

hello everyone, I am new to these boards. I have a 2007 H3 with the rough country level kit installed on it. I have a few questions. ever since i put on the level kit my front end seems alot more sloppy. Do I need to put the spacers on the shocks, or change to a different shock?

also I dont know much about wheels or tire sizes, whats the biggest, widest combination i can go with, without having a rubbing issue or need to make any modifications?

I figure these are simple questions, but Im not the most tech savy guy out there, thanks in advance for any advice

315/75r16...thats a 35" tire. you can clear that without any mods. I have that rough country level kit also. i didnt put the spacers in the shocks and i didnt use the rear shackles either. i only used the spacers for the torsion bar bolts. guess i could have saved myself $70 and used something else.
but yes your front end will feel more "sloppy". I have mine set at 23.75 " in the front. I like the way it handles. your gonna have to get longer "bump stops' for the front now cuz once you level the front the A arms are no longer in contact with them.. this helps when braking and cornering.

yes it is normal to feel a little more sloppy, basically the bump stops are an active dampening part of your suspension and rest on the control arm, by leveling it you are creating a space between them allowing for more dive and sway in the front end. You can get longer bump stops or/and get stiffer shocks, like billstein or adjustable rancho 9000's.

Also did you get an alignment after the lift? if not that would e your number one cause.

also keep in mind that with the increase of tire size come a little less feel of stability, with 35s and a 16 rim and depending on the tire you can add a lot of tire sidewall roll when you turn, if you're used to driving on a tire like that you won't notice, but if all you've ever driven is cars with low profiles it it very noticeable.

Thanks for the reply.....I really don't know much about wheels and tires. Right now I got BFG All-terrains on there. They are 265/75/16I ......i know you said i could go with a 315/75/16 and think that would be great. However I have been looking around at some different wheels and some of the ones I like are 18....so my next question is can i still go 315/75/18? And what time of lug or offset would i need

No I haven't gotten an alignment done since I put on the kit. My biggest problem is I don't know much about vehicles so its a good thing I found this place. Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it

if you get 18s, you will want to get a backspacing of 4.5" because they look they best, but you don't want back spacing of more than 5.5" I run XD Spys with Nitto Trail Grapplers in a 295/70/18 which is almost the same size as the 315/75/16s. You could also get a 35/12.50/18. I run 4.5" backspacing on mine, and the other thing you want to make sure you get the hub bore at or bigger than 100mm.

tubby right now you have a 32" tire on there, and your probably thinking to yourself that they look really small expecialy now that you leveled the front. you should def go bigger. 35" seem to be a common favorite amoungst h3 owners, I am pissed now that i didnt buy some when i had the chance. I was to cheap to spend the extra $300 so i got 33" instead. they still look good but not as good as 35" would.
just know that your gas mileage will take a hit expecially if you go with an agressive tread.

Agreed. During my build I was going to put 33s on but after seeing the 35s and getting confirmation from a lot of guys on this site that they will fit leveled, I went for them. The H3 looks great with them and drives great, no issues here whatsoever, just waiting on my new suspension now.

well im glad to sat it wasnt my shocks that was causing me problems. it seems i had the torsion bars cranked down too tight and thats what was causing my issues. the shocks where too tight to do their job and the "sloppy" feeling i had was the actual tires bouncing. i was set to but a complete set of bilstien shocks tomorrow, but wanted to make sure 100% thats what was wrong before i dropped $400 bucks down. luckly for me i have a few connections to a jeep, dodge, and ram dealership they found the problem in no time. guess i will take this as a lesson learned. thanks everyone for the advice
