Will do, will there be any oil sludge or any residue there?

Well Hummer went down while driving to work towed to shop and after a compression test they discovered that the 3 cylinder was shot. Looking at a new head. Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg.

Oil usuage/now head or motor issue
After being towed in to the dealership they found number #3 oil fouled, 0 compression and did a wet compression test with 0 PSI. Everyone is giving different advice as far as what to do. One dealership says to tear down the head and check it out another says to replace the motor. A new cylinder head is $2900 and a used motor is $6000. I asked them to pull the head and see what they find. I'm hoping its just the head and not a whole engine that has to be replaced. The vin falls inline with the ones that have a known valve issue so I am hoping that's all it is. This is an 06, H3 with 117882 miles

Just a follow up. New cylinder head, still had burning oil. Spoke to a contact with a local GM dealer. He gave me a TSB #PIP3289A talking about excessive oil usage and checking the cam cover ports to ensure they were not blocked. Pulled the valve cover and sure enough they were. cleaned them out and now hope for the best.

Excessive oil use and cylinder issues
Thank you to all of you that still reply to old threads. I’ve learned a lot from them and it’s great to see different solutions pop up over time. Despite the moderators complaining about it with the (new thread talk, blah blah and going on and on about trivial things) ” I’m thankful for these last three responses. First 2007 had valve seat / cylinder head issues. I learned a lot on here and with troubleshooting, in the end, had the head replaced. This 2007 has a high oil consumption issue. So thank you Firemarshal. I appreciate your updates and I will check out what you have mentioned!
