Engine Swap

Hi there,
i am new in this group.Been driving a H3 2008 for the last 8 years.But a couple of weeks ago the engine just failed while i was driving.My mechanic said that the engine is totally damaged
i am currently living in the middle east and not easy to find used engine or even spare parts.But today i found a 2006 H3 engine which is in fairly good condition with 90000 km on it.
Can i swap my 2008 H3 with the 2006 H3?

No go. The 2008 3.7L has 56x reluctor ring and a few different sensors to go along with a different ecm. The 2006 3.5L has a 24x reluctor ring and runs off a different ecm

Hello and welcome to HF. I MOVED this for you as the new member section is NOT for Tech Questions, like it says stuck at the top of that section.

The 2006 3.5L will swap into a 2008 3.7L truck, but it will use a different PCM, and your 2008 has a Transmission Control Module (TCM) which the 2006 did not.
So you will need a 2006 PCM and a reprogram of it and your TCM. You will need the Throttle Body from the 2006 as well, 2008s used a different TB. Not a drop in.

Might want to look for a 2007+ 3.7L out of a Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon or Isuzu I-370?

First of all,thanks guys for the quick respond and to Doc Olds for moving my thread.
Glad that i joined this group!Well i guess i have to keep on searching.Love the truck too much to just dump it.My other option is to buy parts from the US and send it here.But it will not be easy.Afraid that the parts wont fit the engine.I saw a lot of H3 Engine Rebuilt Kit for sale on Ebay but not sure if its a good idea to buy one.
