Cel-p0171

Hello Everyone-

I am new to the forum, but thought this information may be helpful. I recently started experiencing intermittent CEL. HP tuners revealed a P0171 (lean bank 1). I changed my upstream 02 sensor, and the light remained. I had taken off my throttle body once before to clean it, so I decided I would disassemble that whole upper assembly that sits on top of the manifold. Sure enough, I found a cracked hose (figured it could be a vacuum leak). The hose is underneath the back of the big plastic piece that site between the TB and the air filter box.

Here are some pictures:

Taking it off was pretty easy. two bolts hold the plastic piece to the manifold (10mm, like most bolts under the hood)

Then Loosened the Hose clamps (four, flathead screwdriver)

The New Hose ( I chose to use hose clamps):

The CEL is now gone! Hope this helps.

The "big plastic piece" is known as the resonator box. The hose under the back to the breather port at the rear of the left valve cover is the secondary PVC hose.

Thanks for the thread, might give people a place to look for their leak when they get a P0171.

Thanks for the write up.. Oh, is that a WS6 T/A I spy there?

Nice choice in toys! Former owner of a 01 Camaro myself..XD

Thanks guys. Yes, it was a 2000 ws6. It's now a shell. Most recently an iron 346 and a pt8847 came out of it. Bigger motor is going in, same turbo though.

UPDATE:

Still no CEL light months later. Replacing that little hose has fixed the issue.
