I own an H3 and i cant decide on whether to go with 33s or 35s. i know there will be less of a MPG change if i get 33s, but i would love to have 35s. so if there isnt much more difference between 33s and 35s speeking in MPG then i would go 35s, but i dont know how the MPG will be affected. anyone?

35's will lower your mileage slightly. I only saw about 1-2 mpg change in mine after switching to the 35's, but I was also getting 10.5 mpg with the stock tires[:@]

 

That's only your special truck that GM made for you on a friday.

 

Newbie Question: Can I put 35's on my rig by simply replacing the 33's I got on there as OEM...or do I have to buy new wheels?

i have 33" super swamper boggers and i can tell the difference in mpg. probably about 2 mpg. then again the boggers have a really agressive tread for mud.

 

in most cases, bigger tires won't noticably effect your mileage. your speedo will be off, as will your odometer and everything else related to distance travelled. bigger tires take longer to make one full revolution, so although you may travel the same distance, your computer will think different. this whole thing about mileage and tire size is getting boring, it's not the tires as much as it is the computer. aggressive tread will increase your rolling resistance, therefore making mileage worse, but that change is minimal. you'll need to send more power to the axles to spin the heavier tires, again making a minimal change in gas mileage. still, with all of that, the biggest difference is that your computer is calibrated for a specific tire size. when you change that, your computer doesn't know it. unless the dealer can change it for you, you're stuck with the stock programming and you'll just have to deal with the fact that you need gas to drive, and your decisions on tires will have some impact on that.
