I don't carry a spare, my insurance gives me roadside assistance. Besides that, I like the clean look on the back, plus I get a better view behind me, without that spare tire in my rear window. Tow my rig home, and I will take it from there.

HUMMERZ,

did you have to vent the rear door when you eliminated your spare or did you leave the bracket in place? I was thinking of doing the same thing as my insurance provides AAA coverage also. Do you have pics?

I would never go without a spare. it is not worth it. I can change a flat before they even think about showing up.

To me, H3's look weird without the spare on the rear.

I too have AAA but when I'm miles offroad with no cell service then I'm glad that I have a spare onboard, but then again I'm also carrying a spare S belt, tensioner, idler, tie rods, half shaft, and other things.

Spares are the key to making it Off the trail. Spare tire, tie rod, half shaft, steering rack, belt, tensioner, shock, etc.

We have done many trail repairs in areas where we couldn't even use a tow strap let alone get a flat bed tow truck to the area. We have never left a man/rig behind.

I guess a street only car can get away with no spare. An OffRoad rig shouldn't leave the pavement without a spare tire. I would refuse to wheel with a rig that didn't have a spare.
