The TCCM reads voltage from the T Case buttons, initiates position through the T Case actuator, recognizes position, and confirms position. So it is possible. Do you have a sunroof? Is so, has the passenger floor ever got wet?

Be aware there are 2 different types of TCCMs based upon which T Case you have (ie.. the standard or low range off road) so confirm that if you order one.

But he said the previous owner rebuilt the transfer case. He could have use a plastic fork.

Also sorry Doc, but heck yes some of them do!
Had one in my 2008 H3 Alpha Offroad - Mr. Blue.

Plenty of people have reported plastic shift forks in 07, 08 and even some 09 H3/H3T with adventure/OffRoad pakages.

That's news to me, there was an old GM bulletin that indicated a part change mid 2007. Now I suppose it is possible some T Cases manufactured before then, but not assembled into unit until after that date may have occurred, but I have never seen one. Maybe the place to check is through Borg Warner???

Just replaced the plastic fork in my '09. Transfer case was dated 06/06/2006. There were no indications that the transfer case had been replaced; the gasket between T case & transmission was as hard as a rock & had to be scraped off (in pieces), all of the wiring clips and fasteners were intact. My problem was a lack of 4WD lock.

Two of our 2008s alphas have plastic shifter forks. So annoying to swap

By opening the transfer case and looking inside or looking closely at the T case for a build date. I looked years ago if GM had any VIN# info
about that and I could not find anything.

It doesn't matter if everything works properly. I assume mine has one and it works just like it is supposed to, zero issues.
