Default 2006 Door Panel Replacement with a 2007 or 2008

Has anyone replaces their 2006 door panel to a 2007 to use the new design. The buttons are on you forearm, what were they thinking? Everything is the same, the only problem is if the wires are not long enough and the replacement buttons have a different connector. If not, this is worth it for me. I think the only parts would be the panel and the switch assembly. Anyone know where to get the parts cheaper from a certain dealer? Anyway, I think I'm going to take a chance and do it, I should be able to get it to work.

So you never opened the rear window when trying to open the front. It's not that big a deal but it's just not right.

Below is from a different post. I contacted both local dealers, and received two different answers concerning when the model was switched and the combatibility.

Hummer of Louisville said different years made the change (06 original, 07+ new design), and panels are not interchangeable within different model years.

Hummer of Cincinnati, said GM used what was left of old surplus stock and made changes in mid 07 and a few models in 08 have original panels. Cinci said all panels are interchangeable including wiring harnesses and fit.

I would like to know too, I don't know how many times i've rolled down a rear window instead of the front. Having them farther forward with the newer design is more intuitive than trying to play hide and seek with buttons out of your perhipheral vision.
Most likley the same idiot is the one responsible for the butt warmer button location as well. It's always nice to have to either open your door to switch buttons or stab your arm down like a spear to get in there.
Everytime I have to do it I want to find who designed it and give them a swift kick in the nuts.
