Between the 06 and mid year 07 there are also a major interior change that most HUMMER owners found to be very nice.

GM moved the window and lock controls from the lower armrest portion of the door panel to their current up right postition.

If it was me, I would opt for the newest model year with the lowest miles that works in your budget. I have added a little guide for you to check out. It shows a lot of the model year changes and options.

Hope this helps!

On the I5 ......3.7L .........is the manual much better on gas? it always will be some but.....

i am looking at a 08 with 40k but its automatic
or I can get 07 manual but it has 80k miles

I'm thinking lower miles and deal with the automatic......opinions

I don't think there is very much difference in gas mileage between auto & manual. If MPG is an important driver for your decision you might want to re-think the H3. I'd definitely go with the lower mileage '08 - all things being equal other than the trannie.

I would get the auto.... I understand the reasons for a manual but the mileage is pretty much the same and the advantage goes to the auto as it can tow more poundage.

You're talking not even 1 mpg difference between the two if "real world' mileage even proves it.

Ive owned two auto H3s and now have a manual (5 speed) h3. I have seen a consistent 2-3 MPG improvement over my auto. However I would still buy a automatic if I was going to do it again. IMO the clutch is way undersized for this vehicle. I am at 79,000 miles and I need a new clutch bad. At the same time I do tow and offroad though. Its the same tranny found in the pontiac solstice (AR-5) btw....

Here is some interesting info, sounds like the 2007+ manual is alot better

That being said, I love having a manual for offroad.

Todays automatics get better mpg's than manuals because simply put, you're not out shifting a PCM manually. If mpg's are a great concern than a Hummer is not for you. Personally I stopped buying for mpg's years ago but to each their own. I also prefer the 3700. I'd go with the newer one however properly maintained any engine package will/would be fine. Hummers seem to hold their value better than quite a few other domestic SUV's over time.

I don't believe you can get the V8 with a manual, so it should be a non-issue there.

My 3.7L pulls pretty good with the PCMforless tune on it. Coming from a guy who has a 700+ RWHP muscle car. A truck is a truck... I just deal with it... LOL
