What is the best year H2?

Title says it all...facts and opinions welcome! :D

best year

2006 but definitelty any year prior to 08

Indy 08-29-2011 09:36 AM

If you can afford a 08+ go for it....new engine and new interior.

Why would you not want an 08 or 09, other than they will cost more?

Cashville 08-29-2011 03:41 PM

Yeah, I'm also curious, as I'm looking into buying an 08 H2...

XxCC3xX 08-29-2011 05:22 PM

The newer the Better of course. I drive an H2 with 101,000 miles and it's still awesome and Perfect. Except for when I screw it up on accident.:D

Muddydawg75 08-29-2011 07:11 PM

I wouldn't buy anything after 07 either....

I have more than one reason, so I will say...

1. More 6.0 engine parts to choose/pick from (aftermarket, and stock parts)

2. Dash titties.

3. More spare parts, interior changes were huge in 2008+.... older models stayed closer to each other, especially 2004-2007.

4. Older models are less "Escalade" and more badass. If I wanted Paddle shifters I'd buy a car with them.

That's awesome. I didn't even think of it.

Yep old thread. But still the same question. Found an 07 but rather have 08 or 09.

calif phil 08-12-2017 08:18 AM

I think 2008 or 2009 with low miles would be the best. My favorite H2 is the 2006 Fusion Orange limited edition. When I saw that model I traded my Yellow '03 H2 for it and have loved it ever since I brought it home.

skeptic 08-12-2017 10:49 AM

I have an '06, but I have to agree that an '08/'09 would be better. An extra 70hp and a bit better mpg due to a couple more gears, plus an interior that is perhaps not as manly but it is nicer. I'm getting squeaks and rattles and cracks that I have to believe would be less on the updated versions.

H2Miami 08-12-2017 04:04 PM

I do like mine (06)
I also like older dash better
HOWEVER the advantage in ppwer train and the no rattle interior make me wish a 08

i owned a black 2003 H 2 and a pewter 2003 H2 and now an 2008 H2. 2008 is way better.

Bigger engines 6.2 liter vs 6.0
Better Transmission
Better interior ( Full 3rd row seating compare to one jump sest on the 03-07)
Better Dash

LoJac963 08-13-2017 09:07 AM

Hip hop rapper, 08/09

Manly man who can take squeaks/rattles and wants a rig that looks like a beast inside 07 and under.

hummin along 08-13-2017 06:25 PM

Thanks for all the replies, It's a 2008 or 2009 for me. Better power and trans.....kinda simple

MixManSC 08-13-2017 06:29 PM

Some will also tell you that the trans in the newer ones is not really any stronger, just more gears which can be a pain if you tow a lot.....

Another plus to the newer ones, replacement interior parts are much less expensive. For now anyways. But as mentioned, the interior is a bit more plain and no dash boobs.

hummin along 08-13-2017 08:21 PM

I gotta sell my H3 Alpha now

In the 08-09's if towing is an issue with the six speed, shift to manual and set the high gear selection to where you want it, you can keep the rpm's wherever you want it.

I would disagree that the 6L80 is not any stronger than the 4L65E,

Neal

hummin along 08-13-2017 09:52 PM

Personally I will never buy a manual anything anymore. Did that......

Ah - yeah not sure what I was thinking but yes I'd agree the 6L8x series are definitely stronger transmissions than the 4L6x series. That being said with a proper rebuild a 4L6x can be rebuilt to be more than plenty strong enough. Me personally, I would prefer the newer 6 speed 6L80.

The 08 and 09 H2 has the ability to be shifted manual (paddle shifter on steering wheel), Limit high gear in manual (shifts auto but will only go the selected high gear) or fully auto.

Not sure if my explanation was clear on my last post,

Neal

I have had two 2006 models and recently moved to a 2008 - in my mind there is no comparison, the 2008 is a far better vehicle in every way. Much more power, better economy, far smoother transmission and a much nicer interior. Mine only has 85k miles on it but there are no rattles or squeaks at all. I am very pleased w/ the upgrade!

cannoncollector 08-20-2017 08:52 AM

Probably NOT my 03...although the Sunset Orange color is what I needed for medicine..😍

Zombie01 08-28-2017 04:26 PM

2008 and up, hands down!
New interior. New TRW hydroboost system. New 6 speed trans. New 6.2 / 400+HP engine.

When I get tired of the 04, I will be buying a 08 or 09.

Yup …. I'm with ya on those points.
Also guys that build engines say the 6.0 is abetter
gas pot powerplant for the H2 than the 6.2.

Also was wondering if anyone here has had a good experience with powering the /05 with a GM Diesel engine / trans / transfer case transplant?

Your thoughts are appreciated.
