Default Tire Size question ...

Hey guys - I've got a stock 07 H2 and thinking about going up to the 37 KO2s from the 315/70/17s. Looks like it adds 2 inches to diameter. Based on what I can see with heigh and turn clearance it looks like it could handle it.

Anyone tried this out or have insight?

Thanks!

Technically the tire is about 2" taller but the tire will only give you 1" difference in "lift" and you will need 1" extra clearance front, rear at full compression and droop. 1" extra clearance inside the fender at full compression.

I swear I posted a response to this. I'll post i again.

The 37x12.5r17 KO2s are 35.5" tall. The 35" version is 33.5" tall. I own the 35" and I've seen reports of the 37s being 1.5" shorter as well. If you're looking for a real 37", look elsewhere. If you are ok with a 35.5" tire (about 0.5" of side wall / clearance), then go for it. They are pretty good tires other than holding onto smaller rocks.

Yep ... you were right on the 35 vs the 37. They're on and rubbing on both turns but not bad (and actually the standard 315's rubbed as well)

Love 'em. Thanks.

are you measuring the diameter when they are on the car? on the rim without weight on them the 37s are 36.54 and the 35s are 34.53. Pretty standard in the industry for flotation tire sizes to fluctuate. In fact all tires in this sizing system fluctuate a little. I have the 35s" KO 2S on mine and I had the 35" kos as well. they are the same height.

I would say my 37s are closer to 35 on the tire under compression. It's tough to measure because the center of the tire is slightly higher than the edge where you can measure.

And 37 KO2s will fit on there stock with only slight rubbing ... it might be a problem on really severe articulation ... like turning lock to lock with the wheel compressing all the way up in the well.

I have never given any of my 4x4s that kind of treatment so I'm not too worried about it but some guys might have problems with that for sure ...

I think he's talking about me, I have 37 inch KO2s on my H2, if you look them up even on BFGs website they are small. When mounted and on the truck they are 35.6 inches tall, they are not "True" 37s by no means, quite possibly the smallest "37" on the market. Despite this I think they look pretty good and are what should have came on the truck (along with 4:56 gears) as stock. They don't completely fill up the wheel well. When you make a sharp left turn the right tire rubs the sway bar and the left tire rubs the frame. No problems on right turns. Clearly I could easily fix this by drilling and tapping the LCA but it hasn't bothered me too bad.
If you want the 37 look you might be a little disappointed, but make no mistakes Parker beside a stock 315 truck there's a pretty big difference (granted I'm one of the few trucks that don't run side steps so.

There's another forum I frequent, I'm sure if you've looked up 37s H2 you'd come across pictures of mine.

I think they are the perfect step up if you don't plan on regearing but do a lot of highway driving. With that said if you do a lot of 80 MPH driving like I do, trying to keep that transmission from shifting becomes a real chore. If you keep it at or under 70 I doubt you will ever notice you got bigger tires. Eventually I'll be regearing, but honestly it wasn't good to begin with, 4.88s should make it somewhat spritely.
