2005s have the sensor mounted in the pump, this was how my pump looked, very corroded ->

The word TAB is toward the LHS (driver's side)

The black component is the pressure sensor, from the view below you can see it's grey corrugated rubber gromet which pushes into the pump. My pump was badly corroded removing it really took some effort, I only tried it for the experience as new pumps come complete with it.

As I understand it, new sensors come with a new gromet.

You could save some effort if you have access to a Tech2 you can view the pressure sensor in real-time and confirm the PCM + Sensor are working as I did just a few minutes ago for reference,
A quick note, the level at 1st glance it appears small, almost zero and hardly moving, the Live Plot Min/Max scale need changing a "Learning" and even then the engine needs running before any changes occur.

Hope this helps

I put my money on the vent valve solenoid. Connects to the carbon canister, it's basically an electrically operated valve that's either open or closed, to allow fresh air into the system while the engine is pulling in the fuel vapors. Very common for these to stick either open or closed. If it's stuck open, even partially, there's your problem.

And I think you mentioned they replaced the purge valve. That's the one that's mounted on the engine, that activates and opens to allow vacuum to pull in the fuel vapor when the engines running. Due to the age alone, I'd be going for that vent valve.

It's worth picking up a boroscope on Amazon, basically a fiber optic camera on the end of a lead that's a couple feet long. Handheld screen. You can slide that in to the left rear wheel well after removing the liner, and get a good look at the top of your fuel pump housing to make sure it's not rusted through.... You could have a pinhole leak there if the rest looks really bad.

@RobertDez - great suggestions 👍👍👍

Been here, amazingly my fuel pump's EVAP hose was completely rotted-off, strangely but never got a DTC but there were occasional fuel smells emanating around rear LHS.

15years of debris around the FP needed clearing.

This is what I picked up... Has an adjustable light and other features. works with your cell phone. Peeked into the Cyl of my BB502 checking out the condition. Works well.

That was the second part I replaced, right after the fuel cap.
