Some tech questions
Hey all
I have two issues with the "2"
Ok, first I am getting ready to drop the oil pan. So I wanted to know what things I should do and look for?
I wanted to know what gasket set would be the best for the rig (it has about 155000 miles on it), what filter would be the best, and anything else that should be done while in there. Would the corvette servo be good to do now?
Second, I have an issue at 1000-1500 rpm range. I am trying to figure if this is a tranny thing, or an engine thing...and how to fix it.
Basically around 1000-1500 rpms when the gas isnt pushed much, I can see the tach bounce. If I push the gas down, it tends to go away. Not sure if it stumbles when I do it. It just seems to go away. It isnt an all the time thing, but it seems to be more at low speeds, but does show sometimes at higher speeds. Basically it is a slight issue that I noticed and obviously I want to correct before it gets worse
I have no codes or anything.
I am getting ready to put new plugs and wires in it.
I have run seafoam through it a few times.
Any ideas?
Thanks

yes this is for the fluid in the transmission.
i didnt know wix made a filter assembly for the trans
as for the gasket, I would just rather buy new. my last run in with "re-usable" gaskets cost me an additional 1000 bucks because they kept leaking
So best gasket?

yoymon,
I hope I can explain exactly what is happening....
In what seems to be every gear, if the truck is in the 1000-1500 range i can watch the tach bounce from roughly 250-500 rpms. I believe I can hear the slight surge. So of course to get to the 1000-1500 rpm range I am usually driving, so when I push down on the gas, I barely feel a stutter. It basically feels like the same stutter you would get when pulling away from a stopped position.
At no other time do I see this issue
Hope that helps and hope you can too

does it idle smooth? the only reason im asking is it sounds like the kind of stumble you might get when you need to clean tb and maf and or run good fuel injection cleaner through a tank or two, change fuel filter, tough to know without driving it myself to know exactly what you mean, I put a bottle of techron concentrated plus in mine when it was running a little rough and it did wonders for mine, hope this isn't all the obvious stuff you might have tried already

Late to this thread. I have the issue of the slight surge, rpm hunting, how ever you want to call it. Just got the truck, 140k miles. No luck on this or the H4O forum with tracking this down, so searched for surging with Silverados.
Found quite a bit of info related to surging, but the consensus seems to be it's a built-in problem with torque converter electronic lock-up. Some reported it on brand-new trucks, others saw it anywhere from 50k to 150k miles. All tried seafoam, cleaning injectors/ MAP/ TPS, new plugs. Sometimes the fuel pump or a new fuel filter fixed it, one guy changed his throttle linkage. But mostly it came down to a design deal. I did see one dude who replaced the converter with a heavy-duty unit and that cured it.
Sadly I probably would never have even noticed the surge if the PO hadn't had Best Buy install an aftermarket Kenwood sound system. The alternator whine is pretty loud, you can really hear the surging through the speakers.
